Visiting FellowContact at: [email protected] About the Researcher :Dr. S K Vasudeva, completed Master of Science in Organic Chemistry and obtaining Doctorate from Punjabi University, Patiala, and joined DRDO in 1970 and underwent one year course at IAT, Pune as Senior Apprentice (Armaments). In 1971, he joined Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL), Chandigarh.
In 1976, he was selected by Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, New Delhi, for National Scholarship to study abroad and did his Post Doctoral Research in the area of explosive compounds, at Technical University, Warsaw, under the guidance of renowned explosive expert, Professor T Urbanski. In 1980, he was deputed to attend Warhead Technology Training Course at MBB, West Germany. He worked at Swedish Detonics Research Laboratory, Stockholm for a very short period under the renowned detonics expert Prof. Persson, in the field of high pressure physics. He underwent a number of Management Development Programmes conducted by Institute of Technology Management, Mussoorie and Administrative Staff College of India, Hyderabad
After a thirty years’ stint at Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL), Chandigarh, in 2001, he was chosen to lead various Strategic Programmes of National importance for Defence preparedness and was appointed as Director, System Planning and Implementation Centre, Delhi , in 2001 and he served as Director up to 2011.From Nov 2009 he was given additional charge of Chief Controller Strategic System and he served up to January 2011.
Awards, Publications and Patents
During the last forty five years, he has been primarily associated with R&D in the field of design and development of special armament systems and their operationalisation. He made notable contribution in the field of blast resistant structures.
In recognition of his achievements, he received several DRDO Awards from time to time, which include: two advance increments for contributions in ’Pokharan-I’ experiments; ‘Path Breaking Research Award’ (from Ministry of Defence), in 1999, for contributions in ’Pokharan-II’/ ’SHAKTI-98’ experiments, ‘Scientist of the Year’ award in the year 2002, ‘Award for Performance Excellence’ in the year 2006, ‘Special Award for Strategic Contribution’ in 2007, Technology Leadership Award in 2009 .In recognition of his contribution towards State of the Art Strategic Systems, he was awarded Life Time Achievement Award by the Prime Minister in2014 .
After his retirement in 2013, he joined as Scientific Consultant (Defence Technologies) in the office of Principal Scientific Adviser to Government of India. Recently he has been appointed as Visiting Fellow at Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS).
He has a number of Research Publications in the field of armament Technology and Technical Reports/Departmental Publications to his credit. In addition, he has three Patents to his credit in the field of explosive technology.
