Lt General (Dr.) V K Ahluwalia, PVSM, AVSM**, YSM, VSM, (Retd)
In a career that spanned over 40 years in Indian Army, Lt Gen Ahluwalia served on all prestigious command, staff and instructional appointments. He retired as the General Officer Commanding in Chief (Army Commander), Central Command in March 2012. Thereafter, he was appointed as Member, Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT), Jaipur Bench.
General has been a keen aviator and has flown helicopters in all operational environments in India. He has served and commanded his units and formations in high altitude and in intense insurgency and terrorism affected areas of Jammu and Kashmir, North East India and in the states critically affected by the Maoists’ insurgency in India.
As a Brigadier, he was responsible for Indian troops, staff and military observers deployed in various United Nations Peace Keeping Missions in Africa, Middle East, Central America. Later, he was the Director General Military Training (DGMT) of the Indian Army for over three years.
Besides a number of articles, the General has also authored a book, “Red Revolution 2020 and beyond, Strategic Challenges to Resolve Naxalism ”(Bloomsbury). An MSc & M Phil, he had carried out research on Internal Security and Conflict Resolution, and was awarded his doctorate in 2016.
He has taken over as Director CLAWS with effect from 22 June 2018.
