| South Asia is the second most unstable region in the world after West Asia. The main causes for the prevailing instability are the ongoing conflict in the Afghanistan-Pakistan (Af-Pak) area and the nearly seven decades old standoff on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) between India and Pakistan. Pakistan�s proxy war against India, now in its third decade, also contributes substantially to regional instability. The level of violence in Kashmir remains high despite some reduction in successful infiltration attempts even though the number of attempts has not reduced. | ||||
